Dermal Fillers are used to smooth out lines and wrinkles and add volume to folds of the skin.

Facial volume loss is one of the key effects of the ageing process.   Dermal fillers can help replenish this lost facial volume and generally rejuvenate the face. Dermal fillers can also be used to define and enlarge lips, and to shape the face through the injection into the cheeks or mid-face.

FAQ

How do Dermal Fillers work?

Dermal Fillers are injected just below the surface of your skin and help restore and smooth out deep facial wrinkles and folds that appear due to the body’s ageing process. There are many different types of dermal fillers on the market ranging from permanent to non-permanent. At Face Clinic Lavington we only inject with the highest quality Dermal Filler products.

What is a Dermal Filler?

The most common Dermal Filler is a natural complex sugar found in the second layer of skin called the dermis. As the skin ages it gradually loses this filler and results in skin sag, wrinkles and a loss of volume. The dermal filler helps restore volume to the areas affected by the aging process and reduces wrinkles. The Dermal Filler also adds volume to the skin by attracting water to the injection area.

How long do Dermal Fillers last?

Non-Permanent Dermal Fillers can last anywhere between 6 to 24 months and is dependent on the area of the face they are used. Whereas Permanent Dermal Fillers can last for up to 10 years. However it should be noted that what your face requires today, may be different to what is needed in 5 years time.  As a basic guide the facial  areas such as lips will break down the dermal filler faster, whereas areas, such as the cheeks will last longer.

What should I expect in the treatment?

Your physician will determine the areas and extent of treatment and discuss your objectives with you.

Ice is generally left on the treatment area to help numb the area and/or an anaesthetic cream is used. With the Dermal Fillers we use, the local anaesthetic is also incorporated in the product allowing for a more comfortable procedure as you continue with the treatment. The product will be injected and the total treatment time is roughly 20-30 minutes. The results will be noticed instantly. Slight redness, bruising, swelling and tenderness may occur for up to a week after the treatment.

It is an in/out procedure and you can go back to work the same day.

What areas can be treated with Dermal Fillers?

Dermal Fillers can be used for the lips, chin, corners of the mouth, cheeks, smile lines, hollows under the eyes, and any other fine lines around the face.

Can Dermal Fillers be used as a preventative?

Dermal Fillers can be used to assist in preventing wrinkles from worsening. Generally it will always visually appear better than it would have been, if you did not have Dermal Fillers.
